Enhancing Digital Economy Participation for ASEAN Women MSMEs (IDEAS)

The “Enhancing Digital Economy Participation for ASEAN Women MSMEs” (IDEAS) project is an empowering initiative that supports women-led Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the 10 ASEAN member countries. Through this project, women entrepreneurs gain valuable skills and resources to navigate and grow within the digital economy. The project is led by the Asia Pacific Women’s Network Center at Sookmyung Women’s University (APWINC) in South Korea, with financial support from the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF). In Thailand, Kenan Foundation Asia serves as the Implementing organization.

 

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

  1. Empowerment through Digital Skills: Equip women entrepreneurs in ASEAN countries with essential digital and business skills, preparing them to leverage online tools and platforms for business growth.
  2. Business Growth in the Digital Economy Facilitates the entry and expansion of ASEAN women-owned MSMEs within the digital economy, fostering innovation and sustainability, and giving a competitive advantage.
  3. Regional Economic Development Support regional economic development by bolstering women-led businesses, fostering gender equality, and creating more inclusive economies.

 

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The IDEAS project offers a series of hands-on, virtual, and in-person training sessions designed around six key business and digital competency areas. These sessions are intended to build confidence, provide practical knowledge, and connect women MSMEs with resources and networks.

  • Content: Each training session covers core digital economy skills and business insights.
  • Format: Sessions include interactive learning, case studies, and practical exercises.
  • Certification: Participants receive certificates upon meeting the program requirements.

 

PROGRAM BENEFITS

  1. One-on-One Coaching Graduates gain access to individualized coaching sessions, allowing them to receive tailored advice and support on specific topics of interest related to their businesses.
  2. Certificate of Completion: Participants who complete the required sessions and assessments receive an official
    certificate from the IDEAS project, a testament to their skills and dedication.
  3. International Trade Fair in South Korea Selected graduates are eligible to participate in a major trade fair in South Korea next year (2025), offering them the chance to showcase their businesses, network with industry experts, and explore new markets.
  4. Supporting Fund: Partial funding to support joining training sessions, as well as grants to help transition to E-business.

 

IDEAS PROJECT IMPACT

Through IDEAS, women entrepreneurs in ASEAN countries will be empowered to:

  • Improve their business sustainability by adapting to digital changes.
  • Access new markets, networks, and resources in ASEAN and beyond.
